3/13/22 – A Song for Sunday

No, this is not a song about Sunday, or daylight savings. This is a song I’ve recently found and connected with. In my life music has always (and will always remain) the way that I connect most with the world around me. This tune I found as again I am adjusting to my new reality of significant loss, sadness, and sorrow – while waiting for the new gains (and my new self) to emerge.

Gonna Be Okay

Song by Brent Morgan

Lyrics

Don’t listen to the voice inside your head
You’re doing just fine
You’re trying your best
If no one ever told you it’s all gonna be okay
We’re just people never sleeping over stupid s***
We won’t remember in the morning
Yeah, we’re gonna forget
And no one ever told you it’s all gonna be okay

When you lose faith in everything you ever knew
Don’t give up on you

When life gets overwhelming
Relying on yourself is hard to do
But don’t give up on you, no
If you’ve been lost and lonely
Ashamed to be alone with only you
With no one left to lose
If it’s the last thing that you do
Don’t give up on you

You’ve been living off opinions for way too long
Afraid to be right, ashamed to be wrong
If no one told you it’s all gonna be okay
Those people always keeping up to keep you down
Stop looking for a reason just to keep ’em around
I know they never told you it’s all gonna be okay

When you lose faith in everything you ever knew
Don’t give up on you

When life gets overwhelming
Relying on yourself it’s hard to do
But don’t give up on you, no
If you’ve been lost and lonely
Ashamed to be alone with only you
With no one left to lose
If it’s the last thing that you do
Don’t give up on you

There’s no one like you, yeah
One to one
Never gonna find another like you, yeah
You, there’s no one like you, yeah
One to one
Never gonna find another like you, yeah

When life gets overwhelming
Relying on yourself is hard to do
But don’t give up on you, no
If you’ve been lost and lonely
Ashamed to be alone with only you
With no one left to lose
If it’s the last thing that you do
Don’t give up on you

If it will all be ok that remains to be seen, but in the meantime I’m going to try and not give up on me.

  1. What a beautiful song. Thank you for this post, and thank you for this sentiment. I love the repetition of it – it’s almost as if the songwriter knew I needed to hear those words over and over again. =))

  2. This is a beautiful post! I connect to lyrics often before the melody of a song, and these ones are so powerful and necessary for how a lot of people are feeling currently. Thank you for this 🙂 I’m going to listen to the song as well
